             *Kathy's Apple Crisp*

4 cups peeled, sliced apples
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/3 cup cold butter

Arrange apples in a buttered 9x9 baking dish. Mix remaining ingredients with fingers until crumbly. Spread over apples. Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees.

                       Spiced Apples
 
1 cup sugar
1/4  teaspoon ground nutmeg

2 apples
1/2  teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup water

Combine sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg and place in saucepan.  Add water and boil for 1 minute.

Peel and core and slice 4 apples in half.  Add a few at a time to syrup, cover and cook until tender.
 
Drain on wax paper and chill.

 

Freeze your apples for later!

With the holidays ahead, you can capture your fresh-picked apple flavor now and your're ready for baking in the months to come!

Peel and slice enough apples for pie or crisp. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of sugar over apples and mix. Place in ziplock bags and freeze.

Use for pie or crisp or add 1/4 cup water and cook into apple sauce!!
